Local County Resources for Veterans

The Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs has identified local county resources for veterans and their families.  A number of counties in Maryland have local veterans commissions, work groups and councils which are designed to support constituents in specific regions of the State.  If your County provides local services to military service members and veterans, and you do not see your commission or council represented, please contact the Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs at 410-260-3838.

Anne Arundel

  • Veterans Affairs Commission, Tim Mennuti, Chair, exleb00@aacounty.org
  • Accessible Resources for Independence, Inc., is a center for independent living that provides support and services to people with disabilities in Anne Arundel and Howard counties in Maryland. It is a consumer-controlled, community-based, cross-disability, and nonresidential private, nonprofit agency.  For veterans, Options Counseling through the Veterans Directed Home and Community Based Services are offered.  The program provides Veterans the opportunity to self-direct their long-term supports and services and continue to live independently at home. Eligible Veterans manage their own flexible budgets, decide for themselves what mix of goods and services best meet their needs, and to hire and supervise their own workers. Through an Options Counselor, the Aging & Disability Network provides facilitated assessment and care/service planning, arranges fiscal management services, and provides ongoing options counseling and support to Veterans, their families and caregivers.  For more information visit Accessible Resources for Independence, Inc. or contact staff at 443-713-3911.
