Phillip Munley
Director, Service and Benefits Program
Maryland Department of Veterans and Military Families
Mr. Munley has served as the Director of the Service Program for the Maryland Department of Veterans and Military Families since December 2011. The program operates 16 locations throughout Maryland providing assistance to the men and women who served in the Uniformed Services of the United States, their dependents, and survivors in obtaining benefits from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Defense, State of Maryland and other programs serving veterans and their families.
He is a military retiree of the U.S Navy, beginning May 1981, serving with various commands until his retirement in January 2002. His last duty station was with Naval Reserve Recruiting Detachment Area One, San Diego, CA, where he served as a Navy Counselor, Chief Petty Officer, and Area Supervisor. In this role he led four recruiting offices throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
After his retirement Mr. Munley continued his service to veterans as the Contra Costa County Veteran Service Officer located in Martinez, CA. That busy office provided assistance to the 72,000 veterans, dependents and survivors of Contra Costa County from 2002 until December 2011.
Mr. Munley, a native of Maryland, was born and raised in Catonsville. He and his wife now live in Carroll County, MD. Phil enjoys traveling to spend time with his eight grandchildren.
