Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery to Celebrate 50 Years of Service to Maryland Veterans
WHAT: The Maryland Department of Veterans and Military Families will host a special 50th Anniversary Celebration honoring Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery, the first Maryland state veterans cemetery and the foundation of what would become today’s Maryland Department of Veterans and Military Families. The ceremony will recognize the cemetery’s five decades of service to Maryland’s veteran community and honor the sacrifices of the men and women interred there. Established in 1976 in Dorchester County near Hurlock, the cemetery has provided a dignified final resting place for thousands of veterans and eligible family members on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. For 50 years, it has served as a place of remembrance, reflection, and military honors for the region.
