Charlotte Hall Veterans Home has been proudly “Serving Those Who Served” since 1985.  The Home is situated on 126 beautiful acres in St. Mary’s County and offers and a continuum of care from the 168-bed assisted living program to the 318-bed skilled nursing program.   Charlotte Hall Veterans Home also offers memory care in secure units. The Home is Medicare/Medicaid certified, and all veterans receive a per diem subsidy from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to reduce their cost of care. The Home is inspected annually, as required by the Office of Health Care Quality, MD Department of Health, and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Our vision is to continually develop and deliver a safe, dignified, and compassionate healthcare system; and provide a nurturing and engaging home environment for Maryland’s veterans.

Preliminary Admission Requirements (at this time, Charlotte Hall is not open to admissions)

  • An eligible applicant is a veteran who served on full-time active duty in the U.S. Uniformed Forces, other than active duty for training and was discharged or released under conditions other than dishonorable.
  • Certain members of a reserve component who meet the legal residence requirements.
  • Certain Non-veteran spouses of eligible veterans to be admitted to Charlotte Hall.
  • Maryland resident, at least 62 years of age or if under age 62, deemed disabled by either the Social Security Administration or the US Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • For health, safety, or welfare reasons, Charlotte Hall Veterans Home may decline to accept an applicant.

VOLUNTEER

Volunteers are needed to help with arts and crafts activities, collect information for oral history interviews, run bingo, conduct religious services, and mentor on computer.  Volunteers also contribute time for special events such as Veterans Day and Memorial Day celebrations.  If you are interested in donating your time and talents to the Veterans Home, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at 301-884-8171, press 1 and then enter ext. 5144.
