State Property Tax Exemptions

​​​​​​​​​Veterans with a disability that the Veterans Administration has determined is 100% service connected, permanently, and totally disabling may receive an exemption from real property taxes on the dwelling house and surrounding yard.

Eligibility

The following groups can apply for exemptions:

  • Veterans with a disability that the Veterans Administration has determined is 100% service connected, permanently, and totally disabling.
  • Disabled active duty service members
  • Certain unremarried surviving spouses
  • Surviving spouses of military personnel killed in the line of duty

Note: Some active duty service members are eligible for a property tax exemption based on disability recognized by their individual branch of service. The VA does not verify these exemptions.

Application

Veterans and surviving spouses may apply at any time and do not have to meet the September 1 filing deadline. Fill out and follow the instructions on the application form based on your eligibility:
