Support Programs
Coaching Into Care provides a “coaching” service for family and friends of veterans who see that a veteran in their life needs help. The service is free and provided by licensed clinical social workers and psychologists to help the veteran and family members find the appropriate services in their community. Call (888)-823-7458.
Resources provided by the Department of Defense to caregivers who assist wounded, ill, and injured Service members with activities of daily living.
The NRD is a database of validated resources that supports recovery, rehabilitation, and reintegration for service members, veterans, family members, and caregivers.
Family Caregiver Support Program works in conjunction with a host of local agencies on aging to provide a variety of adult services, incorporating assisted living, protective services, and temporary disability programs.
Benefits
Family members or caregivers of a Veteran may qualify for VA health care benefits, compensation (payments), or caregiver support programs.

MAP specialists work with caregivers, professionals, and all individuals with long-term care needs to plan, identify, connect, and assist with accessing private and public resources for long-term services and support.
Scholarships
This scholarship is designed to provide aid for tuition and other educational expenses to veterans and their family members who are attending an institution of higher learning within the borders of the State of Maryland.
University of Maryland Global Campus offers scholarships for caregivers of recovering servicemembers and veterans. This scholarship aims to honor the unparalleled selflessness and extraordinary commitment of these caregivers.
Survivors and Dependents of Deceased Veterans Resources
The OSA is a VA program designed to provide dedicated and comprehensive support to survivors and dependents of deceased veterans and members of the Armed Services.
The VA offers free bereavement counseling to parents, spouses and children of Armed Forces personnel, reservists and National Guardsmen who died in the service of their country. Counseling is provided at community-based Vet Centers. Services are obtained by contacting the Readjustment Counseling Service. Call (202) 461-6530.
TAPS offers free grief resources to all those grieving the death of a loved one serving in our Armed Forces, 24 hours a day, seven days a week through a national peer support network and connection to grief resources. Call (800) 959-8277.
